Once every year the majority of us set resolutions for the new year. For many they are disciplines they intend to uphold that until this point in their life they have been unable to. For some there are intentions being set for undertakings that have been repeatedly put off, and yet others are setting goals. The point of this is to move into the new year with the intention of new beginnings, a reboot of sorts, a centering and the once and for all decision to live the life we believe we should have been living all along. This is a noble undertaking that has all but been reduced to a cliché and a national joke. It is almost guaranteed that 90% of us will not meet these new levels of being with most coming to an abrupt halt within a month.
I, like so many others also take the change of that digit in our date system as a clarion call to “Get with it”. Failure also comes to me quickly so my plans tend to fall apart before springtime. The irony is that I have been on a perpetual program of self-improvement since I was in my twenties, (which is well over 40 years now, but who’s counting). I know it is easy to say yet not a cake walk by any means.
So what is all of this “needing to change” about anyway? Is it possible that majority of people walking this life are not satisfied with how they live their lives? I do believe so! This is a shame. How could this be? The last time I looked, (at least in America) we were not in a prison like colony, nor are we being held captive, or even being told what we have to do for a living, and/or leisure. Human beings have free will, choice and exponentially unlimited options before them. For the most part, our lives are of our own making and design, and the opportunity to choose occupations, leisure activities, dwellings, geographic locations, fitness, nutrition, entertainment, companions, belief systems, sexual orientation and lately even gender assignment is afforded us. It seems highly unlikely that anyone, anywhere needs strict resolutions and hard intentions set in order to live their life on their own times, yet we do, en mass!
I believe this is a human paradigm that has been passed down through the ages that we need to stop before we continue to perpetuate it for future generations. The notion that life is tough and we need to work our fingers to the bone to survive, struggle to know comfort, and pray for peace and happiness has been what most minds are programmed with from childhood. Too many of us have been indoctrinated into the belief that anything good, “ANYTHING” must be earned through hard work, intense planning and a little bit of luck with a wink of Grace from God. We tend to feel that the default life without struggle, pain and hope is impossible, and it is one of despair, lack and suffering. Therein lies the rub Horatio!
I have been discussing for over 15 years now the realization that we are all connected to One Divine source of life, and as extensions of this Omnipotent consciousness have unlimited potential that could equal the life of gods should we tap into our source. Much of my conversations have been to support the reality that our thoughts are the foundation of our experiences, and the lives that unfold before us a crafted in our minds before they play on the big screen. If we started out having our minds programmed to believe that we need to struggle, the stage was set for our default condition to be poor and require “Resolutions, Intentions, Prayer, Hard work, Struggle, Sacrifice, and Luck” in order for us to know joy & peace. It was not our fault so we can give ourselves a break. However we MUST stop the cycle.
God set this life in motion for the purpose of experiencing God Itself (himself/herself). In order for there to be experience in the physical, mental world of form, relative conditions are necessary. In needs out, up needs down, good/bad, happy/sad, fear/faith, comfort/pain, health/illness and so on. This why God created these conditions; so their opposites would have a flavor. Then we were given choice, ignorant of our divinity, we navigate the world of possible conditions and pick (with our though vibration that represents our beliefs and expectations) which conditions are aligned with our life perspective. The programs we had loaded in our youth when our subconscious minds were a sponge, soaking up everything we saw, were not in synch with desires we grew to have. Even the best intentioned parents, educators and mentors missed the mark, believing that instilling work ethic and drive was the best gift they could give. They inadvertently loaded a program that lack, pain, and struggle were mankind’s default condition and required diligent attention to overcome. So here we are. The stage was set for lives that only get to know joy through struggle, and success through sacrifice.
It does not have to be like that!
We need to teach our children that life itself is joy, and with gratitude and love all things desired will unfold effortlessly. It is our responsibility to make sure future generations understand that they are extensions of divine love and their nature is grace. Teach them the truth of the unity of all life and competition is not being necessary. Sharing, caring and compassion trumps, winning, surpassing and outshining others. Your children need to understand that there is more than enough of everything and no one ever needs to be without. They do not need to hoard or worry about what they have, get, or store for life is abundant and in continuous flow. Do not pass along a legacy of pain; instead promote joy, self love, and unity.
Set the stage for a new wonderful show where struggle is non-existent and pain is the exception not the rule. Some of us may think it is too late for us, but it’s not. Even if it is, it is not too late for them.
Do you like the world you see? Change it for the future. Possibilities are always unlimited and Joy is our natural state. LET THE SHOW BEGIN.
THE JOURNEY IS THE DESTINATION
