I Decide

I Decide

By John Rodgers

The choice is mine to venture forth though wrought with victims robe

East & south or west & north, forward moving is my probe

The will that drives my fearful trek doth leave me cause to wonder

With outward view an awful wreck, my soul retreats from sounds of thunder

It seems at times I’ve no control, experience comes as random chances

As worldly oceans toss and roll, creation by my hand advances

Could it be I’ve asked for this, a life not what my heart desires?

Creation answers thoughts amiss, as painted clouds spark tearful fires

For once the mind embraces will, the canvass of my life is true

Intent of purpose a heart so still, reveals the yield of spirits’ due

For I alone can offer choice, and move toward making wishes real

The truth comes from the inner voice, regretful choices shall reveal.

As enmity drains from inside, and love espouses action

The peace and calm I will derive, brings joyful satisfaction

Awakened to the truth of being, the choice is mine and mine alone

The darkened eye is finally seeing; how Spirit focused I have grown

Equanimity foreshadows doubt, as confidence and faith appear

My love shall cast all demons out, divine existence drawing near

How did I end up in Jersey when I was heading for NY?

Positively Speaking!
By John Rodgers
How did I end up in Jersey when I was heading for NY?

The best laid schemes o’ Mice an’ Men, Gang aft agley, An’ lea’e us nought but grief an’ pain, For promis’d joy!
Robert Burns poem “A Mouse”
In English: Best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.
We have all heard or perhaps proclaimed it ourselves when plans seem to fall apart. We tend to chalk it up to “Fate” or Providence” ( not the city in RI). And move on. But why? Why is it our lives do not go as planned. Hey, “I read The Secret” ! You get what you think about right! If you believe it, you receive it?? What happened here? Why Am I in Secaucus, and not Brooklyn?
As it is, many millions of folk are not aware that all form, condition, event, and circumstance is born from mind. Everything that we encounter and can experience was first thought. Thought is the birthplace of all creation. What you think about consistently and hold in your mind, manifests in your life, whether wanted or not!
For those of us that have discovered this truth of creation, and spend our days and night spewing affirmation after affirmation, visualizing the fruit of our desire, and still finding ourselves on the Jersey Turnpike instead of the Long Island expressway, here’s the deal: Feeling is the key! Absolute hard core conviction= wish fulfilled! Words are a good place to start, but it is our feelings that send the message to the cosmos, and rearranges the energy vibration causing events to occur and materials to manifest. Feeling, conviction, faith that is tantamount to knowing, will bring the desired result.
In The Bible, New Testament, Jesus is quoted as saying, “Ask, seek, knock” We all have heard that, but we are also told, “Seek first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added unto you”. There is the disclaimer! He covered his ass with that one. Also, There is a quote in the book of John where Jesus has said, “Pray as though your prayer has been answered and it surely will”. The point I am making is that just wishing, hoping, intending will produce only disappointment. Knowing, this is the catalyst for the fulfillment of desires.
When we plan for success, affirm it, pray for it, visualize it, but hold fear and trepidation, feel unworthy, do not really believe it possible,,,, we fail. It is our inner most belief that manifests, not our superficial desire.
For example: A household with 2 working parents, 2 good cars, a close nit family with love and values. The teen son asks the Father if he can use the car on Saturday night to take his girl out. The Father says “sure you can son, just don’t be late and drive carefully. It is now only Saturday morning so the event is not yet ocuuring, but the son is feeling the joy and jubilance of his request fulfilled because he KNOWS, nothing will prevent it.
Example 2: A family where both parents are unemployed, only 1 car, Father drinks on weekends with his friends, and car is in disrepair. Teen son asks the same question, and is told, “Yeah, whatever” That boy is still feeling tentative, probably thinking, “ he is going to take it and disappear before I go out, I just know it” What do you think the odds are for him? It is not the condition that causes the outcome, but the feeling behind it that does. The belief there is stronger on the side of disappointment than it is on the side of success. It is our aith that creates for us. The lesson here is to totally banish all negative thinking. When we have intent, plus faith and conviction, we have our dreams fulfilled. When we dwell on negativity, even though we are wishing for the opposite, the predominate feeling is the one that will be realized.

My advice; Seek ye first the Kingdom,,,,,. Come to know the reality of your own divinty. Look for only good in your experience. Dwell on the positive aspects of life. Embrace the simple joy of living, then you can wish, visualize, affirm and pray with conviction.
The student asked the master: “Master, there is an angry vicious dog, and a quiet gentle one that both come visit me in the court yard, which one is more likely to survive the cold harsh winter? The master relies;” The one you feed the most”
Positively Speaking, entertain only thoughts of a positive nature, banish doubt and complaining completely from your mind and The Law Of Attraction will work for you!

New Outlook for a New Year

What we call “Reality” is a mosaic of the collective thoughts/beliefs/ desires, of the Individuated ego-self, as it attempts to close the self imposed illusory sense of separation. The journey is the destination and the road is paved with bricks of creation.
The inward draw of “things” toward one another is the most powerful force in the universe, we call it Love!

Resolution Revolution

The Resolution Revolution

Resolution: Firmness of will, belief, and action; determination. Firm pledge or solemn commitment.

It’s that time of year again! Christmas has passed; we sit back and reflect upon the year gone by. What should I have done differently? What didn’t I do that I should have? Or even worse, what did I do that I’ll never do again??

I don’t know how this pastime got started, but the timing is perfect. As the summer draws to a close, I am too, too busy with yard work to look at my list of “ woulda’, shoulda’, coulda’ves. Than as we draw near Thanksgiving, there’s no point dieting or working out now! Only a fool would try to get control of vices between Thanksgiving, and Christmas. We are all spending too much, eating too much, and yes…partying too much. The week between Christmas, and New Years, is left to cleaning, more eating, laying on the couch scratching, and preparing for, “The Big Change”. I always get last licks in this week, because come January 1, it’s all over!

This year though, I looked up the word. There are a lot of tough words in that definition. If I had known New Years Resolutions were that serious I would never have attempted one. From what I see, most new years resolutions last at best two weeks. The two week ones were the ones I was always in awe of, as mine usually make it 3-4 days. Maybe I expect too much of myself. It seems every year as far back as I can recall, my resolutions have been the same. I’ll bet that is true for most folk. That is sad when you think of it. How many of us are living lives we do not want, acting in ways we do not like, and letting our dreams and expectations pass us by? Why is that? What is it about temptation that is so tempting? Why are we always tempted by things we do not want? Wouldn’t it be nice if it was tough to resist doing the things we know we should? At the start of every New Year, we all sit down and realize that we aren’t who we think we are, and vow to give it one more shot!

Well by golly, this year is going to be different! (I think I’ve said that every year also). But really, it doesn’t have to be this way. We are our own worst enemy. We do this to ourselves. When I think about it, nothing in my life has come at me by surprise. I do not believe life happens. I really believe we create our own situation. (As a man thinketh, so shall he be). Life is a reflection of how we react to the situations we are presented with. The occurrences around us are not to blame for any of our conditions. We choose how we will react to them. This is what creates the life we live; it is “Our Choices” that define us.

A ball player will get pitched 2 kinds of pitches; a ball, or a strike! If he lets the ball go by, he walks! If he swings properly at the strike; a good hit comes from it. You see, whether the outcome was good or bad was not determined by the type of pitch, but how he reacted to the pitch. We are in the batters box every day. All kinds of pitches come at us. They are not the reason for the conditions of our lives. The choices we make about how to react, they are the creators of our reality. Our choices are our own. Our thoughts begin with us. The thoughts we think create the results of life, which in turn, becomes who, and what we are.

This year, I am not going to make resolutions to fight the war on temptation. This time, I think, I will think better thoughts, create better results, and take responsibility for the outcomes of my choices. For now I will choose to drive my own bus!

I am going to attempt to follow these simple, POSITIVE, 5 steps/ beliefs:

1.There is only One Presence and One Power, God the Good, omnipotence
2. If God is everywhere, God is also within everyone
3. My thoughts create my reality

4. Pray affirmatively giving thanks for what I desire
5. Practice the four principles (above) to the best of my ability each and every day.

Positively Speaking; I am optimistic about the new year!

Feel It- Be It

Many of us have seen or read The Secret. Millions in the world have been exposed to a truth that a select few have been sharing for centuries,,”The Law Of Attraction.”
Years ago, you would only have been exposed to the reality that our thoughts are the creative machines the build all the experiences of our lives, if you were on a journey of self discovery. You would have been primed for this truth and willing to embrace it.
As the millennium turned and we are speeding toward 2012, (Age of Enlightenment) Millions have discovered this wonderful information ( life in-formation). The problem is, that we all have not been on the journey, nor did we bother to seek any further.
Jesus of Nazareth told us to “Ask, Seek, Knock” and we will get what we are looking for, but,,” seek ye first the kingdom of God, and all these things will be added to you”
Just being told that what we think about expands, thoughts are things, what we believe we receive, is not enough for us to manifest lives of Joy Peace, and intention. It is part of a much bigger package, but it was enough to pique the curiosity of millions.
When we complain, when we worry, when we gossip, we are attracting issues related to those topics. When we stand in front of the mirror Visualizing and affirming ” I am going to win the lottery” and it doesn’t happen, we feel like this is dumb!
Well, it is all because of our feelings. We can wish, affirm, visualize, repeat over and over until we are blue in the face. As long as we do not feel the joy of the desire already realized,,,,zip will happen, or maybe even the product of our doubt will appear.
First an foremost we must find a place of joy within ourselves, and create from there. Wishing, and hoping while in a state of despair tells the universe you do not believe you will get what you want.
Being already in joy, for the sake of just being alive, tells the universe you believe in love, abundance, peace, and most of all, “Who You Are”.
The 60’s and 70’s saw many people attempt to “find themselves”. Well, that is what needs to be done.
Peel of the mask, pull back the curtain, and take a look.
Then,,,,,, Law of Attraction will be something you can use, instead of something that is happening to you.
POSITIVELY SPEAKING,,,,GO FIND YOURSELF.

We shall not cease from exploration
and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started
and to know the place for the first time.

~ T.S. Eliot

Sacrifice

For those  that have experienced challenges and navigated successfully past them, the last thing you want to hear is: It makes you stronger, or it was all for a reason, Gods’ plan, yadayada. I’m sure we would agree that strength could have been developed without the pain.

Non the less, struggles endured and obstacles met stand as beacons in the night. For anyone facing new challenges, hope is gleaned from the example of those that have emerged victorious. All will agree that coming through pain, suffering, tragedy, and adversity leaves one with a renewed sense of purpose, and a personal power not previously realized.

Now it never feels good to think you suffered for a reason. It doesn’t make it worth it at all. But to the individual looking at challenges anew, the victories of those that have endured is the hope needed to hang on. Without the examples of strength to hold them up, pain & suffering is unbearable.  All action has value. Every experience serves a purpose. God is in Heaven all’s right with the world.

I AM

” Pain & suffering, adversity and strife are negligible with the strength displayed by others, without the power of example, hope is lost and suffering becomes desperation”

Feeling Down

There are times, (especially around the Holidays) that the going seems a little rough. It is at these time we need to be ever vigilent with our focus. When we understand that what we focus on expands, and what we think about most we create in our lives, we need to pay attention to where our minds go.
A small inconvenience leads us to think that the day is an imposition. We think “why do I bother” then we look at our lives through the lense of dissapointment. As the day goes on, all the little things that we have no patience for seem to be jumping out at us. Then,,, on the way home we have a fender bender. Pissed and dissalusioned with life, we open the front door, pick up the mail and see BILLS! Oh my God! Why is this happening to ME? How will I ever get through this? I want out!!!
Beleive it or not, When we send out negative energy, self defeating thought vibrations, it is like saying” this is the kind of stuff I want, please send more” and “voila” you get more, every time!
We create our lives with thought/feeling vibration. The way we feel connected to conditions and circumstances is the same as “Asking” .
We have all heard the story about the 3 guys n the island….Genie’s lamp,,, each get 1 wish. 1st guy,,,, Wish I was in a NYC penthouse with all my friends celebrating my big lotto win,,Poof! He’s gone. 2nd guy,,, wish I was in the south of France sipping champange with beautiful women,,Poof, he’s gone. 3rd guy,,,,,,I wish my buddies were here to help me decide!!!!
And so it is.
The Universe, (God), Divine self, does not discern the appropriatness of your focus. It just recognizes continued repetitive focus ( with conviction that this is how it is) and poof! Look around,,,, you actually asked for this.
Positive Thinking is not impressed upon us nearly as much as it should be. Religion calls it faith. Faith is a double edge sword. If you are convinced that you’re destined to wallow in crap and the road out is too long and too difficult, then, “voila”, or Poof!
When negativity creeps in, thank it for sharing, push it aside and focus upon what you DO want, always keep your eyes on the prize, not the roadblocks!
Positively Speaking,,,,,It’s the only way to go! We are steering the wheel of our own journey. It helps to have a map.

Chicken McNugget or Egg McMuffin?

Positively Speaking!

By John Rodgers

Chicken McNugget, or Egg McMuffin?

I never heard if “They” ever solved the age-old question of what came first. It appears as though you can’t have one without the other, so this is a biggie. I’m glad I never agreed to be one of “them”, so I never have to answer this one! However, this debacle has been prevalent in my life as long as I can remember. It takes the form of my dreams & desires.

Most of us have a plan of sorts. We all know what we want, and or where we are going. Too often though, our happiness, peace, and sense of satisfaction & acceptance are mortgaged by our results. We tend to live in a state of suspended animation, waiting for “our ship to come in” and then we will have the life we want, be who we were meant to be, and allow ourselves to be happy!

I have discovered that I had this one in reverse. I always thought that I would find peace, happiness, and satisfaction, by accomplishing the things in life I set out to do, and was reaping the rewards of a successful life. So I find myself impatiently waiting, suffering, whining, knowing I will never be happy until “my ship comes in”, only to find out that the fuel that will drive the ship to me is my happiness, satisfaction & peace!

God is the omnipotent power, force, and creative energy at the source of all that is. The Holy Spirit is the flowing of this energy through each of us. We were given creative license to direct the flow of this “God Power” in any way we desire. The result we get is what we call our life! Each of us is an instrument that God uses to create, and we determine what is created with our faith. Our attitudes and beliefs direct the result of our creation. We cannot create happy positive lives without being happy & positive first! In order to get where we are going, and be who we were meant to be, we have to learn to create from a good feeling place. Trying to create joyful results from frustration, and impatience is impossible. The answer to the question “Which comes first happiness, or the attainment of our desires,” happiness is the answer. We all need to create from happiness to have the results we desire.

This is the role of gratitude. When frustration over the lack of what we want sends our mood south, we must look for something to be grateful for, in order to elevate our mood to a “happy place” so we can continue to create in the direction of our desire.  Our “E-Motions” are the built-in guidance system we have to inform us of the direction our creative energy is flowing. If we are feeling bad, the “motion” of our “energy” is in the opposite direction of our desire. If we use our emotions to guide us, and perform a course correction by using gratitude, we will find the trip toward “where we are going” much smoother, and quicker. We have this built in GPS, (God Powered System) or internal guidance, called emotions, and the corrective tool of gratitude to get us back on track. To quote an earlier article, “It’s in there” God has equipped us with all the latest technology to create lives of joy & peace. We just had to figure out what came first the chicken or the egg.

POSITIVELY SPEAKING, finding the happy place first brings us to what we are looking for.

Who started this lie??

Thou Do Not See

Fear not my brother where thou shalt liveth, There’s ample room beneath the sun

Our Makers thoughtful gift was giveth, To all of us not just The One

This place in which all brothers dwell, The spot I think to call my home

Could be ‘bout any where we tell, Our bodies to rest from whence we’d roam

The secret that my soul is hiding, Truth to me sometimes revealed

All place and action in God abiding, Causes fear and pain be healed

I seek to find my hidden truth, As life’s meaning may elude

I rest from earnest thought and sleuth, A sudden peace tries to intrude

When thought provokes my mind to still, It dawns on me no answers veiled

The truth I seek with such strong will, Tis there’s no question to be hailed

All answers seem to lie in waiting, For the asker to awake

To the simple truth creating, We know all for heavens sake.

God hides nothing from our faces, We’ve erected veils of stone

Glories’ wondrous love and graces, To us all is easily shown

Beneath the sun the room I dwell in, Has been fashioned in my mind

The life of which all of us fell in, As our own  eyes have left us blind

As you see all thee in grace, There is no truth that we must seek

For all we know of time and space, Shall be revealed when love we speak

Change

“I’VE CHANGED MY MIND!”

I once heard somewhere that it was a woman’s prerogative to change her mind. This year’s Presidential primary if riddled with promises of “change”. When my underwear starts to smell, I change them. I often find change down the side of the couch, and I feel lucky! So it seems change is good. Seasons change, the weather is always changing, and my waistline changes. Life is filled with change. I would almost say “life is change. Nothing stays the same. The face of the landscape, the size of my bank account, the number of hairs on my head; CHANGING!. Always CHANGING!

So, seeing as how change is unavoidable, we should harness its awesome power, and put it to work for ourselves. If you’ve ever read one of these little articles, you are well aware of the fact that I am a firm believer in the idea that we create the conditions of our lives from the inside out. I believe that our lives are a reflection of our beliefs, and our attitude. In short, life begins in the mind, and unfolds in form. First there is thought, (desire), then there is intent, (faith) which leads to action, (creation), which ultimately results in manifestation, (form, or life). I’ve heard it said, “Change the way you think about a thing, and the thing you think about changes”.

Sounds simple, doesn’t it? Lets all change our minds! After all, it was our minds that created war and hatred. God didn’t start those little situations. The mind of man is where bigotry, jealousy, greed, and fear were born.  All of these conditions are the product of our minds erroneous belief in our separation from God.  Jesus taught us that the Kingdom of God was here, now, and always, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven”. Perhaps we didn’t hear it right. Our minds wouldn’t allow us to believe it was so simple. We had to complicate life with our crazy little minds.

Well, there’s this little gift that mankind has used as our primary tool for creating. It’s called “free will”. We can think whatever we want, when ever we want, forever. The cool part about it is that if we change our mind, and decide to view the world, as kind, loving, abundant, and graceful, that is what we will experience, and attract to ourselves. If enough of us “change our minds” POSITVELY, we will witness, a rebirth of humanity. It’s as easy as viewing the glass as half full as opposed to half empty. We don’t even have to do anything, just change our minds as to how we will view the world, relationally, and the relationships we encounter will improve. Each and every one of us has the awesome power of change wired into our system. A touch of the button, (just like using the TV remote), is all it takes to create a new reality.

Next time I change my underwear, I think I’ll change my mind too! I might decide that I could get 1 more day out of those smelly skivvies! I might also decide that life is beautiful, and adversity is the catalyst for desire which fuels creation, that in turn, is life expanding in a never ending cycle of change. Positively speaking, all change, (even small change, or change back from my dollar) is

good!

The Journey IS the Destination.
