Setting The Stage

Once every year the majority of us set resolutions for the new year. For many they are disciplines they intend to uphold that until this point in their life they have been unable to. For some there are intentions being set for undertakings that have been repeatedly put off, and yet others are setting goals.  The point of this is to move into the new year with the intention of new beginnings, a reboot of sorts, a centering and the once and for all decision to live the life we believe we should  have been living all along. This is a noble undertaking that has all but been reduced to a cliché and a national joke. It is almost guaranteed that 90% of us will not meet these new levels of being with most coming to an abrupt halt within a month.

I, like so many others also take the change of that digit in our date system as a clarion call to “Get with it”. Failure also comes to me quickly so my plans tend to fall apart before springtime. The irony is that I have been on a perpetual program of self-improvement since I was in my twenties, (which is well over 40 years now, but who’s counting). I know it is easy to say yet not a cake walk by any means.

So what is all of this “needing to change” about anyway? Is it possible that majority of people walking this life are not satisfied with how they live their lives? I do believe so!   This is a shame. How could this be? The last time I looked, (at least in America) we were not in a prison like colony, nor are we being held captive, or even being told what we have to do for a living, and/or leisure. Human beings have free will, choice and exponentially unlimited options before them. For the most part, our lives are of our own making and design, and the opportunity to choose occupations, leisure activities, dwellings, geographic locations, fitness, nutrition, entertainment, companions, belief systems, sexual orientation and lately even gender assignment is afforded us. It seems highly unlikely that anyone, anywhere needs strict resolutions and hard intentions set in order to live their life on their own times, yet we do, en mass!

I believe this is a human paradigm that has been passed down through the ages that we need to stop before we continue to perpetuate it for future generations. The notion that life is tough and we need to work our fingers to the bone to survive, struggle to know comfort, and pray for peace and happiness has been what most minds are programmed with from childhood. Too many of us have been indoctrinated into the belief that anything good, “ANYTHING” must be earned through hard work, intense planning and a little bit of luck with a wink of Grace from God. We tend to feel that the default life without struggle, pain and hope is impossible, and it is one of despair, lack and suffering. Therein lies the rub Horatio!

I have been discussing for over 15 years now the realization that we are all connected to One Divine source of life, and as extensions of this Omnipotent consciousness have unlimited potential that could equal the life of gods should we tap into our source. Much of my conversations have been to support the reality that our thoughts are the foundation of our experiences, and the lives that unfold before us a crafted in our minds before they play on the big screen. If we started out having our minds programmed to believe that we need to struggle, the stage was set for our default condition to be poor and require “Resolutions, Intentions, Prayer, Hard work, Struggle, Sacrifice, and Luck” in order for us to know joy & peace. It was not our fault so we can give ourselves a break. However we MUST stop the cycle.

God set this life in motion for the purpose of experiencing God Itself (himself/herself). In order for there to be experience in the physical, mental world of form, relative conditions are necessary. In needs out, up needs down, good/bad, happy/sad, fear/faith, comfort/pain, health/illness and so on. This why God created these conditions; so their opposites would have a flavor. Then we were given choice, ignorant of our divinity, we navigate the world of possible conditions and pick (with our though vibration that represents our beliefs and expectations) which conditions are aligned with our life perspective.  The programs we had loaded in our youth when our subconscious minds were a sponge, soaking up everything we saw, were not in synch with desires we grew to have. Even the best intentioned parents, educators and mentors missed the mark, believing that instilling work ethic and drive was the best gift they could give. They inadvertently loaded a program that lack, pain, and struggle were mankind’s default condition and required diligent attention to overcome. So here we are. The stage was set for lives that only get to know joy through struggle, and success through sacrifice.

It does not have to be like that!

We need to teach our children that life itself is joy, and with gratitude and love all things desired will unfold effortlessly. It is our responsibility to make sure future generations understand that they are extensions of divine love and their nature is grace.  Teach them the truth of the unity of all life and competition is not being necessary. Sharing, caring and compassion trumps, winning, surpassing and outshining others. Your children need to understand that there is more than enough of everything and no one ever needs to be without. They do not need to hoard or worry about what they have, get, or store for life is abundant and in continuous flow. Do not pass along a legacy of pain; instead promote joy, self love, and unity.

Set the stage for a new wonderful show where struggle is non-existent and pain is the exception not the rule. Some of us may think it is too late for us, but it’s not. Even if it is, it is not too late for them.

Do you like the world you see? Change it for the future. Possibilities are always unlimited and Joy is our natural state.  LET THE SHOW BEGIN.

Judge Not

No one’s view of us is more important than our own. Truly loving people build others up, while broken souls in denial tend to drag others down.
SELF LOVE and SELF ACCEPTANCE. are the only opinions we need.
Show love to those that criticize and let them go. Embrace your indwelling DIVINITY, while filtering out the destructive banter.
No person or condition has the power to make us feel poorly unless we give that power to them.
Their opinions are their flaws not our truths.

Carpe Diem

As we greet the morning Sun we need to win the battle for control of our destiny. I like to repeat the affirmation; “Today I will create a masterpiece!”

Should we move forward with no intentions or plans we leave ourselves at the mercy of situation and environment. Once we begin to react we end up in that mode for the day. Following our own intentions for the day allows for more control.

It’s your day to design. Go for it!

Lock Up

So many of us reside in confinement having been sentenced by our own hand. The thoughts we think have become the jury that has convicted us to lives of grief, suffering and pain.

Only by changing our thoughts, adopting an attitude of gratitude for the life we are able to create, and looking forward with love, optimism and a positive mental outlook will the doors swing open for us to walk free.

Loving oneself, taking responsibility for the life we experience, making a positive contribution to the common good and being in awe of the limitlessness of possibility is all the evidence needed to commute the sentence.

So have that retrial, plead your case for clemency and embrace freedom from within your mind as easily as you have convicted yourself. Change your thoughts, change your life

What’s it all about?

One of the main aspects of humanity that sets us apart from all other life forms that we are aware of is the ability to reason, use logic, be curious, have desire and intention and always be seeking. All other forms of life that we know of function purely on instinct. This is why man has been struggling with the existential quandary about our existence since the dawn of time. Why am I here? Who am I? Who are you? Where did I come from? Is the life after this one? Who created me? These and myriad other questions have been the fodder for meditation and debate for millennia. There has been the theory that life may be a dream, or fantasy of some sort. But then, who is having this dream?  Am I dreaming that I am alive, or am I part of your dream? Are you part of mine? Is life an illusion?

There is no real way to get a concrete answer to these questions. A renown French philosopher Rene’ Descartes from the 1600’s is famous for making the remark “Cogito ergo sum” or “I think, therefore I am!” His attempt to answer many of the philosophical conundrums of the time resulted in his validation of his personal existence. There is nothing we can know for sure except that by virtue of us thinking, we must exist. Everything else can very well be fantasy, but our existence must be real since the fantasy is ours.1

That being said, then the question, “What is life about?” would be answered: ME! Without delving deeper into philosophical musing, or spiritual lecturing, it is safe to say that we exist for the very experiences we have. It is a safe bet to say, that our quest, or point, is to feel joy.

Now as a child and perhaps maybe even as an adult, there are times that we ignore the needs of others, or their feelings and struggles and endeavor to satisfy our own. Only to be told “life doesn’t revolve around you  ya’ know! Or, life isn’t always about you! Perhaps we have even been told; You don’t have to always get your way, or you aren’t necessarily always right! With this new perspective I have I feel I need to correct all these misnomers by claiming “Life is about me! Life is only about me, revolves around, me, and is written, directed and produced BY me strictly for MY enjoyment.

On the off chance that rest of you actually DO exist separate and apart from me, it is in my best interest to feign concern, get along and not ruffle feathers, but that is true even if you are al just a part of my dream. For me to have joy, imagined or real, it involves relationship and connection with other like me, even if I am making you up.

I believe we are created to also create. We create life as life has created us. Our purpose is to experience joy, and to share it. Life is about each of us individually and collectively. We are not here to impress anyone, earn anyone’s approval, play by anyone else’s rules, or gain their favor and do their bidding. We are each here for ourselves and our own enjoyment of life. 2Eat the cake, roll in the grass, wear the funny hat, if they don’t like it, the hell with them. You made them all up anyway!3

Cover Charge

The most valuable currency we have is our attention. What we PAY attention to is what is most prevalent in our life. our focus, perspective, and emotion attached to a topic determines how it appears in our experience.

The required fee for a life of abundance, joy, peace and love is the feeling of such conditions and focus on the desired result.

We get what we pay for.

Butterfly’s are Free

The BUTTERFLY EFFECT or Chaos Theory is the idea that something small, like getting coffee, can have much larger effects, such as altering your career is called the butterfly effect. The butterfly effect rests on the notion that the world is deeply interconnected, such that one small occurrence can influence a much larger complex system.

Planting seeds of pain will grow exponentially, as will seeds of love. Whatever vibration we choose to send out from ourselves will eventually circle the globe. No action is without consequence or impact. We have the choice to ensure that our presence in this life is nurturing to the common good. All it takes is a bit of mindfulness and intention.

If more of us were cognizant of the affect we have on the world and thought before we acted, perhaps this rock would be more pleasant for so many that suffer.

BE INTENTIONAL

GOALS

Every personal development/ self help program, all motivational gurus and every advocate of positive living will advise having goals.
Goals are our direction. They should be the result of effort using the talents and gifts we have, the type of labor we enjoy.
A goal is what we intend to accomplish and is our contribution to the world.
There are TWO HUGE concerns we need to hold dear when we are “GOING FOR IT”.
1) The goal should not be viewed as our path to happiness. We need to be happy before, and without accomplishing anything other than just simply being. We will achieve success easier when we approach the endeavor with joy already in our hearts as apposed to NEEDING it to work out for our peace of mind.
2). We absolutely CANNOT focus on the lack of our intent AT ALL. That will bring more lack or increase our frustration. A goal of money is driven by lack of money, a plan to be healthy is spurred on by feeling sickly and a desire for relationship is born out of loneliness. ONLY FOCUS ON THE END RESULT, THE WISH FULFILLED,THE PRAYER ANSWERED. Too often when building a bridge one will become consumed with how wide, deep and rough the river is. That is the path to failure.

Embrace the Challenge

“The key to life is accepting challenges. Once someone stops doing this, he’s dead.” – Bette Davis
“A challenge only becomes an obstacle when you bow to it.”
― Ray A. Davis
There are so many that ”suffer with” problems and challenges allowing them to beat them down and discourage them. They will then complain and retreat to lives of negativity and defeat never experiencing joy.
By accepting that our challenges are the normal process of life meant to be lessons and opportunities, perhaps they can gain advantage from struggles not defeat.

Imagine applying for a job building houses, getting the job, then dreading having to build houses, doing it poorly and complaining about it!
It is no different.
Those that address struggles with confidence and purpose grow and succeed.
Many of those born into wealth and privilege void of challenge end up struggling with addictions, emotional pain, and depression due to lack of purpose while the laborer living paycheck to paycheck takes delight in the little time off with family and few small luxuries.
NEVER BEMOAN YOUR STRUGGLES THEY ARE LIFE.

A CONTRAST BLAST

Literally EVERY THING we know, or experience and can imagine only exists due to contrast. This life is one of relativity and contrast. That means all things are intrinsically connected and have polar opposites. Up does not exist without down. Dark gives meaning to light, and inside is not even a concept unless the perspective of outside is a possibility. Just like the physical law of gravity, there is also a law of opposites. There is no experience without this law, therefore there can be no existence.

The fact that a 1200 Harley Sportster can do a quarter mile in 12 seconds, or hit a top speed of 160 PH on the open road is meaningless if everything we know moves at this same rate.  The meaning is relative to other things that move at different rates. We can say this is a fast bike comparative to millions of bikes that move at slower rates. Therefore, speed is relative to the lack of speed. When Patrick Mahomes tossed the pigskin 80 yards during his Pro Day with Texas Tech in 2017, would be just another day if everyone could throw everything 80 yards. The gravity and drag that prevents this, along with the fact that practically no one else can do such a thing, is what makes it a measurement. I assume we can agree that nothing is anything without the opposite of it.

As far as goals, desires, dreams, wishes, plans and intentions are concerned, before they can exist, the antithesis of them needs to be a prevalent consideration in our mind.  In almost all cases it is the opposing condition being part of our awareness that gives birth to our desire. We NEED these contrasts to be real or whatever we are attempting would not be a consideration. Without the opposing conditions we would have nothing to do, no hopes, no dreams, no experiences, so we need to be grateful for all that which we do NOT want, so we can have desires. This is actually how our universe has expanded.  This is how God experiences God, through us. Realty unfolding in form is due to contrast.

When most of us have a desire and set a goal, the first thing in our point of focus is the opposite of what we want. This is necessary for us to be able to define our desire.

I have written here many times about our focus and feeling creating the vibration that draws the similar vibration in the point of our desire to us, currently referred to as The Law of Attraction. Knowing this, we need to focus on our desired condition, but too often all we see is the contrasting situation and we continue to focus on this causing us to be aware of more of this contrast inadvertently drawing repetitive representations of it into our experience. At this point most of us throw in the towel and abandon our dream believing there are too many obstacles and that our attempt is futile.

However, true intentional creation uses the Law of Contrast, The Law of Attraction, and the Law of Wisdom and Discipline. Contrast and attraction function unconsciously. To be intentional requires wisdom and discipline.  While acknowledging the contrast that was the catalyst for our desire, we need to be wise enough to know that we have to focus our thoughts and feelings on the end result of our desire, NOT the contrast that created it, in order to give it life. Anything else would be like noticing a pothole in the road that could cause harm and digging more holes around it. We need to focus on the opposing condition of the opposing condition that launched our rocket of desire, not the cause, but the desired effect.

My message for today is that all things good and bad have a place. Each gives rise to other. This is the foundation of creation, without which the life we know would cease to exist. The Creator set this dance in motion as a means for self expression to which we are the leading edge of the process of Divine Experience. Do not judge, hate or dismiss. We should all be grateful for all conditions and use our wisdom to discern where to point our focus, as that is the steering wheel of what we will manifest.
